On November 9, Anthony Sam was a guest lecturer on Closing Arguments for the Benedictine University Mock Trial Team at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. The presentation focused on how to effectively argue inferences from witness testimony and tangible evidence to have the greatest impact on a jury.

Michael D. Huber was a speaker at the Rush University Medical Center Anesthesia Department CME Seminar, “Technically Speaking . . . When Medicine & Technology Collide,” in Chicago, Illinois on September 10.
Cray Huber attorneys David J. Farina and Zachary G. Shook recently prevailed on behalf of a food product distributor whose employee allegedly allowed a service elevator door to close on a plaintiff. The defendant successfully argued that under Illinois law, a user of an elevator has no duty to protect against the danger posed by a closing elevator door as that danger is open and obvious. Cray Huber has prevailed for its clients numerous times on similar grounds.
On September 4, members of Cray Huber participated in the Race Judicata 20th Anniversary 5K run/walk presented by Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. Race Judicata is the only running event geared towards Chicago’s legal community with proceeds benefiting CVLS, which provides free legal services to Chicago’s poor and working poor families.
On April 5, 2014, Anthony M. Sam was a panelist for Know Your Rights sponsored by Leaders for Tomorrow at Prairie State College. The panel included law enforcement from local and state agencies including Matteson, Richton Park, Prairie State College and the Illinois Department of Revenue. Leaders for Tomorrow is an academic enrichment program for young men from 8th through 12th grades. It is sponsored in part by funding from the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation.
On April 15, 2014, Anthony M. Sam was on the scholarship selection committee for the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation (TMLCF) Annual Scholarship Awards Program where $12,000 was awarded in scholarships to graduating seniors from six local high schools including Crete Monee H.S. (Crete, IL), Hillcrest H.S. (Country Club Hills, IL), Marian Catholic H.S. (Chicago Heights, IL), Rich South H.S. (Richton Park, IL), Thornton Fractional North H.S. (Calumet City, IL) and Thornton Township H.S. (Harvey, IL). Applicants for scholarships must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 and have been accepted to a four-year college or university. To date, the Foundation has distributed over $150,000 in monetary awards.
On April 26, 2014, Anthony M. Sam hosted a High School Mock Trial Competition for the Leaders for Tomorrow at the Old Village Hall Village in Olympia Fields. Each year Leaders for Tomorrow hosts a high school mock trial competition to allow high school students to showcase their advocacy skills and hone their communication skills. The Honorable Raymond Funderburk, Circuit Judge of the Cook County Municipal Division, Jury Section presided over the trial.
