On September 10, members of Cray Huber participated in the Race Judicata 5K run/walk presented by Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. Race Judicata is the only running event geared towards Chicago’s legal community with proceeds benefiting CVLS, which provides free legal services to Chicago’s poor and working poor families.

Cray Huber participated in the Communities That Care “Back-to-School” program. This program provides new backpacks and school supplies to low income students grade 1-8 who, with encouragement and inspiration, have the opportunity to start and stay in school. Cray Huber employees Janet Baumann and Katie Wilson are seen helping to deliver some of the backpacks donated by Cray Huber.
Adam Carter has recently been selected as one of the Emerging Lawyers in Illinois by Leading Lawyers. The Leading Lawyers Network is a division of Law Bulletin Publishing Company, established in 1854, that selects top lawyers in Illinois based on their legal skills, reputation and experience. Leading Lawyers conducted a statewide extensive peer review process surveying thousands of Illinois lawyers to determine the top lawyers in the state. Survey respondents could not nominate themselves or other lawyers at their own firms. Only those lawyers who were recommended the most often qualified as Leading Lawyers. Emerging Lawyers, a new recognition, identifies the top 2 percent of lawyers in Illinois who are under the age of 40 or have practiced less than 10 years. Adam has a diverse practice, representing both companies and individuals in the defense of product liability, professional liability, and commercial, construction, and real estate litigation.

On May 14, Michael Huber made a presentation to the FDCC/IADC Joint Law Firm Management Conference in Chicago on “Demystifying the Billing Audit Bogeyman.”
Benjamin Beringer has been included among a list of the Leading Medical Malpractice Defense Lawyers in the May 2015 issue of Chicago Medicine Magazine. Chicago Medicine is the official publication of the Chicago Medical Society and serves as a resource for more than 17,000 practicing physicians in Cook County and their staff.
On April 29-May 1, Scott Pfeiffer attended the 2015 EECMA Annual Conference at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel in Orlando, Florida. The EECMA is an informal association of major and minor, domestic and international, property and casualty insurers and reinsurers. The members of EECMA are focused on continued education about the many issues surrounding environmental, asbestos, and other long-term exposure litigation.

On April 23, Adam Carter presented “Personal Jurisdiction After Daimler AG v. Bauman,” at the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel’s Statewide CLE Series at The Outing Club in Davenport, IA. Adam prepared the presentation on the Supreme Court’s 2014 ruling in Daimler AG v. Bauman and its effects on the parameters of personal jurisdiction for corporations foreign to the venue in which they are sued for the IDC Statewide CLE Series. He will also give the presentation on June 11, 2015 at the offices of Heyl Royster in Rockford, Illinois.
