Michael D. Huber and Rodney E. VanAusdal made a presentation entitled, “To Malpractice or to Not Malpractice, that is the Question” to the Illinois Society of Podiatric Medical Assistants on Friday, September 14, at the 2012 Annual Meeting of the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association.

On July 20, 2012, Adam Carter served as a moderator for the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel’s Roundtable Discussion: A Plan to Combat Costs & Delays in Cook County Litigation. The Roundtable Discussion is a continuation of the IDC’s response to last year’s Simultaneous Disclosure of Experts Pilot Program initiated in the Cook County Law Division.

We are pleased to announce that Summer E. Heil has joined the Firm. Ms. Heil is former General Counsel of Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service, Inc., a 1600-employee company operating in four states. At Superior, she managed the company’s litigation in multiple jurisdictions, drafted and negotiated contracts, ensured compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and was involved in a wide variety of employment law issues. Prior to her work as general counsel, Ms. Heil represented corporate clients in matters involving, but not limited to, medical malpractice, class actions and claims of health care, consumer and common-law fraud. In addition, she defended employers in all types of employment discrimination claims before state and federal agencies and courts.

Adam C. Carter was appointed to serve as the chairman of the IDC’s Civil Practice Committee for the 2012-2013 year. The Civil Practice Committee of the IDC focuses on drafting and modifying legislation in Illinois, including Supreme Court Rules, and also determining if the IDC should weigh in on civil practice issues pending before the appellate courts and the Illinois Supreme Court.

The CLM is a nonpartisan alliance comprised of thousands of insurance companies, corporations, Corporate Counsel, Litigation and Risk Managers, claims professionals and attorneys.
