Mary K. Periolat has vast experience in a variety of civil litigation, focusing her practice in the areas of medical negligence, products liability, and personal injury litigation. She has been responsible for the preparation and trial of high exposure medical malpractice, products liability, and other types of complex personal injury cases in both state and federal courts. She has served as counsel for a major private medical school and physician group in a variety of complex litigation matters and risk management in all specialty areas including high risk obstetrics, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, and emergency medicine. Mary has also represented hospitals, emergency medicine groups, physicians, mid-level providers and long term care facilities. She has also served as regional and local counsel for several major pharmaceutical manufacturers and a leading provider of diagnostic testing in a variety of product liability and professional negligence claims.

Mary is a 1980 graduate of Indiana University with High Distinction and graduated from Indiana University School of Law cum laude in 1983. She was selected as a Constitutional Law Moot Court Team Member. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Mary was designated a “Super Lawyer” by Leading Lawyers Network as one of the top medical malpractice and products liability attorneys in Illinois. Mary was also designated as one of “Chicago’s Top Lawyers” for excellence and achievements by the legal community. She was recognized as one of the “Top Women Lawyers in Illinois” in 2008 and 2017 in the Chicago Lawyer Magazine and was also awarded AV preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
