National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH): NIOSH Is the Federal agency responsible for researching and making recommendations regarding workplace health and safety. Access to NIOSH research, bulletins and publications can be found on the site.

The databases contained on the site provide access to a wide range of materials concerning construction, mining, hazardous materials and scientific studies concerning workplace health and safety. An invaluable factual research tool.

US Army Corps of Engineers: Information about the Corps, ongoing projects and “hot topics” can be accessed through this site.

Building Officials and Code Administrators International: Unfortunately, the codes are not available on-line. However, the site offers current revisions and their progress through committee, and order forms to order most major national codes such as the National building code, the National Fire Protection code, the National Premises Maintenance Codes and the International Mechanical Code.

DOE Office of Building Technology, State and Community Programs (BTS): Contains the Model Energy Code, the Commercial Energy Code and selected states’ codes.

American Institute of Architects: Contains articles and publications of interest.

Construction Specifications Institute: They really knocked themselves out creating a wonderful web site. There is an index and link to construction articles back to 1949. The selection of articles regarding legal issues looks particularly good.
